DSM Nutritional Products has launched its purified green tea
extract Teavigo in Italy, its first European market. The move is
likely to help the roll-out of the product in other member states.
Compounds in green tea may one day be able to treat common skin
diseases and wounds, claims a researcher in the US, who has found
that the polyphenol EGCG can reactivate dying skin cells.
Roche Vitamins is to start production of pure epigallocatechin
gallate (EGCG), the active compound in green tea, at a new
production plant in Shanghai. Annual output is expected to be more
than 40 tons.
